Heartbreak in Minneapolis
As a nation, as fellow Christians—as human beings—the grief and anger run deep because of the cowardly act of evil and murder at Annunciation in Minneapolis on the morning of August 27, 2025.
For my wife, Deb, and me, this tragedy hits close to home. Annunciation is the church and school she attended growing up. We know people in that community. One of them—whose daughter was wounded—is now in the hospital, praying for healing.
In times like this, I find such comfort in knowing that Jesus Himself wept over loss and suffering. His heart breaks with ours. He knows every tear and carries every burden.
Let’s not let fear or anger be the loudest voices. Let’s respond with prayer, compassion, and love. Pray for the wounded. Pray for the families. Pray for the leaders and for the first responders who had to witness such tragedy up close.
Let’s be the hands and feet of Christ right now, not only to our brothers and sisters in Christ, but to our neighbors wherever God has planted us. Reach out to one another. Support each other. Offer a meal, a ride, a word of comfort.
Even in the darkest moments, Jesus is near. In Him, there is hope that no violence can steal. In Him, there is perfect justice that no evil can escape.
Lord, bring healing. Bring peace beyond all understanding. Bring love and comfort.
“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit”
– Psalm 34:18
